Cons: She's a great happy teacher. Class is cancelled a lot . We simply have fun in her class. She makes it fun to learn.
Highly recommend her!
Cons: It's only on Friday so you can't really miss, but I never really wanted to miss anyway.
Fairly easy.
Cons: Takes attendance.
Thinks she knows everything.
This whole class is group work. If you hate group work, RUN FROM THIS CLASS. If you like group work, you may enjoy it. Chambers sometimes thinks she knows everything, but she is friendly. You have to give one five minute speech. It isn't too bad. She doesn't grade too harshly. It is a pretty easy class. There is a midterm and a final but no other tests. I don't care anything about communication, but it was still an alright class. You probably have to take this class. She isn't too bad.
Clear, cohesive instruction.
Decent amount of group work...which can be a con.
Always gives good feedback on your presentations.
Cons: When assigning bonus points to groups, she is partial to those that present or talk about things she relates to.
You don't need to buy the textbooks; just get her supplement (which she'll tell you about).
Cons: Heavy workload outside of class
She is overall a good teacher, she is very energetic and makes the class as interesting as she can. Lots of group work. You need to know that there will be a LOT of work outside of class, especially with your group. She is very encouraging with your speeches and also very understanding when their is a problem within your group. Make sure you email her through her gmail account and not her school email. Frequent use of Facebook which you will have to get used to. One thing I noticed though, she seems to have her favorites in the class.
Cons: She is unorganized. Treats you like your kids.
Class was good. Attendance is mandatory and she is a good teacher and explains things well. As long as you go to class and do the work correctly you should get an A.
Cons: pretty tough sometimes
She is OK. I got a C in this class so... But almost everyone else gets an A. Therefore I still recommend everyone to take her class.
Cons: Her attitude towards others and her lack of communication!
I hated this class. For some reason she acted as if she did not like me and had an attitude the whole semester. I missed a speech because of a doctors appt that i had for the metal plate in my head and she didn't let me make it up and I had a doctors excuse! The class consists of fairly easy material, but I was given a horrible grade, for what reason I have no clue because all my work was done except that one speech that she wouldn't let me do. You're put into random groups that you don't get to choose, regardless of the situation. She does not answer my emails, so far I have sent 3+ back to back that have not been answered about recieving my grades. I would not recommend her to anyone.
Cons: Lots of group work
Don't like for people to miss class
She is a great teacher....
Easy and fun assignments.
Cons: Sprang a midterm exam upon the class at the last minute.
Cons: Don't be absent or tardy on speech days. Points will be counted off from your speech grade. Don't be too tardy, either. After 5 minutes into class, the door shuts and locks and you won't be able to get in.
I really enjoyed this class. Came out with a pretty easy A. I was a little worried when I found out that there would be alot of group work, but it ended up being really fun. I got to know my group members pretty well. The final is mandatory, but is so incredibly easy if you study the material. The only two tests are a final and a midterm. The other grades come from a few speeches, group work, and a couple group presentations. The biggest speech is a pursuasive speech that comes at the end of the semester, but it only has to be 5-7 minutes long, so it's not too bad. Really simple class. I recommend it.
Cons: A LOT of group work.
Facebook interaction group
Ms. Chambers claims she is willing to meet with students/communicate with them regarding classwork, but she never returns emails. Ever. Don't expect her to. She has a tendency of treating her students as though they are eight years old. But her class is fun (sometimes because of this comical treatment) and relatively easy, other than the multiple group projects.
she is a nice person, and attempts to make the lectures interesting.
posts notes online.
Cons: She makes the class way too time consuming for an INTRO to comm class.
She will not post grades on mycourses.
attendance in mandatory.
checking your facebook is part of your grade.
At first I enjoyed the class, and honestly took it because I thought it would require less public speaking than a public speaking class. I was wrong. The group work is a little ridiculous.. the majority of the projects that are due are group projects, and you will have at least one project per week or two. also I didn't anticipate the amount that facebook would be used in her class, I find it silly. In the end I got an A, but it was not worth all the busywork and frustration I had to deal with, especially knowing I had more important classes to worry about.
small classes
interesting lectures
Cons: groups are not always a good thing
Overall, I'd recommend her for your speech credit.
